Outdoor Learning Store free Spring Virtual Workshops start tomorrow! All session are 8pm-9pm ADT. This month, you can sign-up for:

  1. April 16: The Wonders of Water: Practical Ideas and Resources for Educators
  2. April 23: Invasive Species Education and Action
  3. April 30: Developing a Sense of Place by Sparking Curiosity and Wonder

 

The full line-up of NB Science Week 2024 Sessions is coming out very soon! In the meantime, you can pre-register for these sessions to get your hands-on English and French resources to accompany the sessions. There are 100 spaces available for the Centres of Excellence sessions and only 45 kits available for the pre-recorded Brilliant Labs sessions (30 Class kits for 'Underwater Morphing' - Gr. 6-12 and 15 kits for 'Biomaking' - Gr. 3-8). This information is also shared with all Anglophone Districts, so register early! (See attached PDF)

Please note, funds per project will range from $500-$1500 (Final grant amount awarded may be impacted based on the total number of applications received)
 
You can apply for multiple grants but only one may be approved. Materials purchased must be specific to the original climate action grant and consider 'Buy NB First' and 'GNB Green Procurement Policy'. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. Approved projects will be notified by the district subject coordinator. Funding will be given to New Brunswick Curriculum aligned projects that focus on reducing the carbon footprint and must link to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) #13 Climate Action.
 
There are 2 possible streams of funding.
1. Educator Capacity Building - educator focused.
2. Learner Climate Action Project - justice-focused, action-orientated climate action lead by learners.
 
Help New Brunswick reduce our net carbon footprint.

We are very pleased to partner with the Centres of Excellence to offer another fantastic PL Opportunity on Thursday, March 30th in Bathurst. This will be a repeat of the January 24th session that was held in Miramichi. Please see below for more information and to register. The majority of these resources are currently in English but with French in the works for most.

Gr. 3-5 Science PL Opportunity: Inquiry Resources to Support the New 3-5 Science Curriculum  

Date: Thursday March 30th 4pm-6pm  

Audience: Grade 3-5 Teachers

Gr. 6-8 Science PL Opportunity: Energy Resource Planning to Support the New 6-8 Science Curriculum 
Date: Monday March 20th 9am-3pm 

Audience: Grade 6-8 Teachers (Max 20)  

Location: Rodd Miramichi River Hotel (Conference Room)

Hosted by: ASD-N Science and the Centre of Excellence for Energy  

  

Description                      

Teachers will first take part in a 1-hour session to learn about how the Inksmith Climate Action Energy Kits can support the new Grade 6-8 Science Curriculum.The remainder of the morning, COE Energy lead, Adam Trider will speak about resources and funding available and will facilitate an Energy activity that will directly support the new curriculum.  The afternoon will be an opportunity for teachers to collaborate, co-plan and share/create resources.

K-5 Science Teachers! We are hosting a special presentation for Takeaway Tuesday on Feb.7 from 3:30-4pm with Charlotte Flores from Agriculture in the Classroom.
 
She is offering kits that you can use in your classroom to teach about agriculture. See description here: "What’s in your Lunchbox is a hands-on, interactive resource for late elementary students. Students learn which crops, animals and plant parts are needed to make the foods that they commonly eat. Kits include PowerPoint presentations, game cards, lesson plan and story book."
