Climate Action Education Projects

Promoting sustainability and quality climate education through local action projects.

Calling all learners: How are you increasing awareness about climate change? How are you taking action to reduce your carbon footprint?

If you have some great ideas and are looking for
funding to grow existing or start new projects tied to curriculum expectations across all learning areas, you are encouraged to apply for a grant for your local project.

Grant funds per project will range from $250.00 - $2500.00. If the grant proposal exceeds the $2500.00 maximum allowed, then funding partners will be required.

These funds are available for Pre-K-12 student orientated action projects focused on reducing New Brunswickers carbon footprint and increasing awareness. Student-led initiatives are encouraged but require an educator as the liaison and applicant. If your project is selected, you will be required to submit a detailed budget, a timeline for your action project and agree to participate in the Climate Change Education Showcase.

While you can apply for multiple grants, it is possible that only one may be approved. Materials purchased must be specific to the original climate action grant; other fund restrictions may apply.  Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. Funds will be distributed through the district.

Funding will be given to interdisciplinary, student-led initiatives that focus on reducing the carbon foot print and must link to Sustainable Development Goals - (SDG) #13 (Climate Action) while making explicit connections with at least one of the following SDGs: #2 - Zero Hunger, #3 - Good Health and Well-being, #4 - Quality Education, and/or #11 - Sustainable Communities, #14 Life Below Water, #15 Life on Land.

You can access the application form here: Climate Action Education Project Grant Application 2021-22 (ASDN)

Application deadline is October 20, 2022

A second round of applications may be considered, depending on the response.  Please note that we would like to highlight the buy New Brunswick First policy and that all purchases should be as environmentally sustainable as possible.
