A rising method of learning and applying science skills and knowledge is through interactie simulations (http://stemnorth.nbed.nb.ca/science/page/phet-interactive-simulation-res...).  Grade 7 & 8 students at Blackville school used PhET interactive sims to explore plate tectonics and gas properties under varying conditions of volume, temperature, and pressure.
