Welcome to version 2.0 of the 20th year of Envirothon NB, New Brunswick’s High School bilingual environmental education program. The program is administered by Science East Science Centre under the direction of the Envirothon NB Provincial Steering Committee.

Each year, Envirothon provides more and more students with a chance to increase their knowledge and understanding of Canada's natural resources. Envirothon offers both in-class curriculum and field experiences (with a virtual twist for 2021) focused around ecology, natural resource management, and current environmental issues. This unique combination of learning experiences and breadth of study is part of what has made Envirothon a huge success with students and educators across the United States and Canada.

The Provincial Envirothon NB competition will be held virtually during the first week of May 2021. This year, the current environmental topic is Water Resource Management. Registration Forms must be received by March 1, 2021 - Download registration forms from the website.   The highest ranked NB team of 5 will be given the first invitation to compete at International NCF- Envirothon (held virtually in summer 2021).

Virtual Workshops - Weekly Themes (February 8 – April 27, 2021)

We are pleased to offer a new weekly series of Virtual Workshops that will cover what is needed to know for the competition. The 50-minute online format will include themed information from Envirothon NB test writers and guest presenters plus an interactive activity to engage students while developing their Global Competency Skills and provide a time for Q&A on that subject.

The workshops are free to participate.

Students can sign up individually or as a team if they are permitted to be together. Teachers can also sign up their class for any session.

To participate, email me telling me which workshops you would like to receive Zoom links for and any handouts related to the session. If you, or your students are not able to attend the session at the time, not to worry, these sessions will be recorded and emailed to any team or teacher who requests them.

Teachers - Become an Envirothon NB advisor!

Should you decide to participate in the Envirothon NB program as an advisor, you would act as liaison between your team and myself, the provincial program coordinator, Becky Geneau. With the cancellation of the 2020 competition, I am excited to return with Envirothon NB along with the support and collaboration from the Provincial Steering Committee. I encourage feedback from you, throughout the year, in order to give you and your students the best experience possible. Although this year looks a little different, we are all working together to continue to support and provide environmental education opportunities to you and your students!

Please feel free to contact me at 506-440-0228 or becky.geneau@scienceeast.nb.ca register for a virtual workshop, register a team for the competition or for more information.
