On April 8th, 2024, parts of NB are set to observe one of the most powerful and awe-inspiring phenomena ever seen in nature. At approximately 4:35pm, for just over 3 min, day will turn to night. Crickets will come alive, birds will stop their song, the stars and planets will appear, the temperature will drop, and we will have a 360 degree 'sunset'. The moon and sun will appear as a black hole in the sky with silky, silver streams of the sun's atmosphere radiating out from behind the moon.
Schools have now begun receiving their solar viewers and will have them all in hand before Apr 5th. It is important to educate yourself and others on how to safely observe this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Here are some great resources to learn all about the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse:
