STEAM League off and running!

Posted: November 14, 2019

This year one of the goals of the ASD-N STEAM team was to launch a STEAM League where students compete in monthly challenges with a focus on curriculum outcomes which have been designed to be completed during class time. We were thrilled with the amount of teachers and students who participated in the October Challenge. So many outcomes were covered and the media posted really showed the excitement students experienced.  Be sure to check out some of the content at: http://stemnorth.nbed.nb.ca/gallery/october-pumpkin-steam-challenges and http://stemnorth.nbed.nb.ca/video/pumpkin-explosion-challenge

At the beginning of each month there will be a new challenge sent to all schools stating the requirements along with a point system to decide a winner.  If you did not participate in the October challenge it's not too late to join in. Congratulations to our October STEAM League winners of a classroom prize sponsored by APEGNB valued at $250.

K-5 Prize: King Street 5W-FIST (Colleen Wilt)

6-12 Prize: Blackville Middle School Makers (Ashley Hallihan)

Check out the STEAM League tab for the November 'Rube Goldberg' challenge sponsored by APEGNB. There is a challenge for K-5 and a separate challenge for 6-12.  At the end of each month, teachers will be required to submit a Microsoft form which will determine the points gained. This month challenge form is due November 27th.  Points will accumulate from month to month and will be posted on http://stemnorth.nbed.nb.ca/.
