ASD-N District 2016 STEM Fairs have proven to be a tremendous success! In total ASD-N held four different fairs over the course of three weeks. This involved over 185 projects and close to 300 students participating. Things kicked off during the last week of March with Grade 6-12 events at Bathurst High School & James M. Hill, then followed up with District Fairs at Terry Fox Elementary & Nelson Rural School last week. All of these STEM Fairs would not have been possible without the assistance of on-site organizers who helped our District team out a great deal. Thank you to Stephen deVries (BHS), Peter MacDonald (JMH), Charles Austin/Haley Doucet (TFES), and Greg Keating/Todd Fitzpatrick (Nelson Rural).

In addition to the assistance we received from the folks listed above, a big thanks also needs to go out to those who contributed their time as STEM session presenters. This group included: Mike McCallum (Ian Baillie), Peter MacDonald (JMH), Adam Hayward (ASD-N Numeracy Lead), Judson Waye (ASD-N Science Lead), and Jacob Lingley (Brilliant Labs). Thanks to these gentlemen we were able to offer students a variety of 48 engaging/hands on STEM sessions for our student STEM Fair participants. We would also be remissed if we did not also thank the numerous community members, professionals, and volunteers who stepped up to serve as judges for each of our fairs. It was definitely greatly appreciated.

It goes to show that hard work and perseverance pay off as this past Friday we had 9 students from ASD-N bring home awards from the River Valley Regional STEM Fair held at UNB. This included 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 5 Bronze Awards winners.
